Cocobay Resort, Antigua Reviews

Our honeymoon in the Caribbean
The all-inclusiveness, seclusion, and extremely friendly/helpful staff made the trip that much more enjoyable.

How did the honeymoon turn out in general?  Overall, our honeymoon was exactly as expected. We had great food, drinks, views, experiences, and plenty of rest and relaxation!
And about the destination(s) in general?   We enjoyed Antigua in that it was a different country and has not been "Americanized" as much as other destinations. It made the trip feel more authentic.
The least?   We went on our honeymoon in the off-season and, as a result, only had 1 all inclusive food/drink option. There was a local woman selling merchandise on the beach, and the only way to get to the beach was to walk past her tables. This got old as the week went on, but for the most part she was courteous.
Highlight of the honeymoon?   The snorkeling and Stingray City excursion were exceptionally memorable, but the whole trip in general was great. We wanted to be able to truly relax, and we did just that.
Anything that you wish you knew beforehand that you could pass on to us for future clients?  The transportation on the island is expensive, but we would not recommend renting a vehicle. Make sure any gift cards you bring along (instead of cash) can be used for international use!
Any other comments?   The trip started with a hiccup as the resort was not informed that we were on our honeymoon. This was especially disappointing as my wife was unaware of our honeymoon destination and upon entering the room we were supposed to have champagne, rose petals, etc. We had no air conditioning in our room, phone service didn't work, and we had 2 twin beds pushed together to make our king. There was obviously some miscommunication somewhere. After a complimentary upgrade the following day (except the cost of air conditioning), all of the above were taken care of and the rest of the trip was care free.
Was our service what you expected?  The original trip to St. Lucia fell through and there were multiple issues regarding scheduling and flight changes to Antigua. Nothing was to the point of ruining the trip, but had I not reviewed the flight information, we would have missed a flight due to misinformation on our itinerary.
Could we have done more to make your trip smoother?  The resort did not know we were on our honeymoon, which led to our lack of amenities, and sub-par first day. Communication seemed to be lacking. Once this was squared away, everything went great.
